A VERY RARE AND
IMPORTANT MORIMURA BROS.- NORITAKE ILLUMINATED SALESMANS DESIGN BOOK early
20th century. 230 loose brass bound leaves of arches type paper the recto
of each featuring a single hand drawn shape including but not limited to
footed vases, handled vases, covered humidors, nut bowls, sugar bowls,
coffee pot, cups, saucers and plates. Each with a hand painted watercolor
illustration of various floral, fruit and scenic patterns typical of the
Nippon period, with a number of plates further embellished with gilt and
raised gilt type enameling. Each illustration bears printed reference
numbers, the verso being plain with each leaf attached to a vellum hinge.
The verso stamped "Not For Sale, Salesmans Use Made In Japan". Loosely
bound with brass straps attached to hard covers with insides marked
"Common Sense Binder". No title page or preliminaries. 8.5 inches x 12
inches.
