DE ANIMAS (CROSS OF SOULS), 19th century, probably Mexico. The wood cross
form mounted on a stepped terrace plinth. The cross painted with the
crucified Christ, the Trinity image (top), Implements of the Passion, sun
and moon, and the Sorrowful Madonna. The base with the Archangel Michael
weighing souls, beneath him are Adam & Eve and on either side, souls
