ALFRED BASEL (Austrian 1876-1920) "St. George Slaying the Dragon" Watercolor and ink on paper. Signed and inscribed on lower margin, verso also inscribed. 19.7" x 9" (50cm x 22.8cm) Estimate $1,000-$1,500. Apparently a design for a stained glass window. Basel was a well known Art Nouveau graphic artist having studied at the Vienna School of Applied Art. He was a member of the Vienna "Secession" and one of the founders of the Oesterreichischer Werkbund."
