A 19TH CENTURY WETZELS FRENCH CARVED WALNUT AND IVORY INLAY PIANO circa 1810. The walnut case fully carved with relief work of scrolled acanthus displaying thirty-one inlaid panels of engraved ivory depicting various scenes from classical literature. Two scenic carved panels depicting classical nudes at each end. A forty-seven ivory keyed board supported by fully carved winged lion pedestals. Period oval paper label inscribed No. 800/31. Some losses. Signed and dated in engraved ivory cartouches "Wetzels Facteur de Pianos" and Vitel Scupteur A Paris 1810". Length 48", Width 23", Depth 41". Provenance: Elna M. Smith Foundation.

A FINE AMERICAN CLASSICAL CARVED WALNUT SOFA circa 1900, the walnut frame fully carved with large scrolled acanthus on a stippled ground. Supported at each corner with similarly carved columns. Later silk period style upholstery and bolsters. Length 74", Height 36", Depth 29".
