A FINE RUSSIAN ICON: The Donskaya Mother of God, circa 1600. The prototype of this icon is associated with the victory of Great Prince Mitriy Donskoy over the Tartars at the Battle of Kulikoyo on September 8, 1380. It is said to have been brought to Dmitriy by the Don Cussacks to aid him in battle. After the victory, he took it to Moscow. 12.25"x10.75".
