A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN ICON: Christ Enthroned, 19th century. The offered icon most likely formed the apex of a Diesis Tier within an impressive iconostasis. At center Christ rests upon an ornate gilded throne and is encircled within a unique multi-colored mandrola filled with Seraphim. Christ holds the Gospels open to Matthew 11:28. In each corner are symbols of the four Evangelists. The margins overlaid with a one-piece repoussé and gilt-bronze riza. Stunning! 42.5"x37.5".

A SCARCE RUSSIAN ICON: An Iconostasis, 19th century. Painted in miniature and depicting an iconostasis, including from the top down, the Patriarchs row, the Prophets row, the Diesis row, the Festival row and the local row including the Royal Doors. The Kovcheg ornately decorated. While not unknown, icons of this subject are less frequently encountered. 15"x13.75".

AN IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN ICON: Christ Enthroned with Various Saints, circa 1800. At center an ornately rendered Christ. He is flanked by 18 saints. They include Isidore of Rostov, Prince Basil and Constantine of Yaroslav, Mitrophan of Voronezh, John, Philip, Peter and Alexi, Moscow Metropolitants, Dimitry of Rostov, Leonity of Rostov, Ignatius of Rostov, Theodore of Yaroslav, Peter of Rostov, Abraham, Jacob and Isaiah all of Rostov and others. Overall of the highest quality with great attention to detail throughout. 20.75"x17".

A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN ICON: Saint Tikhon of Amathus. Tikhon was the wonderworking bishop of Amathus in Cyprus who died in the year 425. Saint Tikhon was highly favored throughout Russia. Numerous churches were dedicated to him and he was especially venerated in the Voronezh diocese where three bishops in succession shared his name. The borders with Saints Paul and Nicholas, Lubov and John the Baptist. Christ delivers a blessing at top. The borders and background ornately decorated. Probably a Moscow workshop. 35"x28".
