AN IMPORTANT BURGUN SCHVERER CAMEO GLASS VASE circa 1890, of conical shape in crimson and green glass with cameo flowers and leaves. Internally enameled pink flowers and green leaves are encased between layers of glass. A Martele finish accentuates the vase, marked with the complex Burgun and Schverer trademark consisting of a Cross of Lorraine with BS & CIE Parfly overlaid with a V-shaped scroll containing the words "Verrerie d'Art de Lorraine". Height 12.25". Estimate $15,000-$20,000 The company of Burgun Schverer is one of the oldest surviving glass manufacturers in Alsace-Lorraine founded in 1711. Emile Galle apprentised here and formed a partnership with B&S after the Franco-Prussian War to produce glass for Galle.
