Born in Battle Creek, Iowa, Etler studied at the University of Illinois from 1928-1931. He exhibited two works at the Hoosier Salon in the year 1938 ("Red Feed Barn" and "Long White House") and is known to have submitted at least one work for a WPA post office mural commission (circa 1934). His work is similar to SPA artist John Bloom who was an instructor at Grant Woods Stone City Art Colony and a fellow resident of the Quad Cities, where Etler retired. Estimate $800-$1,200 |
