A VERY FINE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR NAVAL SCRIMSHAW DECORATED POWDER HORN the 14.5" curved formed overall scrimshawed and carved. The body with one large three-masted Warship with gun ports flying the American (Union) flag, together iwth another partial iron-clad steamship with gun ports and also flying the Union flag. Also engraved with the motto "Don't Give Up The Ship" and also engraved with two large fish. The mid-section carved with stacking "hearts" and the original wood base cap partially encircled with brass tacks. Overall rich even patina. Of the type less frequently found.
