A VERY FINE TIFFANY FAVRILE GLASS “TEL-EL-AMARNA” VASE circa 1913. Of tapering cylindrical form with short curved shoulder and neck on a short flaring foot rim, the body of white opaque glass cased in emerald green rises from an emerald green glass foot and supports an emerald green glass shoulder. The above offered lot, also referred to as “Egyptian Decorated” was inspired by ancient Egyptian vessels from archaeological sites that Tifany visited in 1878. The name “Tel-El-Amarna” takes its name from the site of the excavations of Pharaoh Akhenaten’s capitol in middle Egypt. |
