A RARE CONFEDERATE SOLDIER'S CARVED FOLK ART CANE circa 1863, The Hickory
Shaft carved with 21 various figures in relief including 2 human faces,
frog, snake, fish, turtle, elephant, giraffe, lion and others topped with
a gold filled cap inscribed "Taken from a rebel prisoner at the battle of
Lookout Mt. Nov. 24, 1863, by Lieut. J.L. Rollins". (Note: J.L. Rollins
was a member of Stokes's Cavalry - the 5th (Union) Regiment of Tennessee
Cavalry under the command of Col. William B. Stokes.) Cane retains
original varnish with nice dark brown patina and wear. Length 36 inches.

"Infantry of the Line" signed in plate lower left "Janet-Lange 1845",
printed by d'Amerber & Co. 1846. Surrounded by a later custom decorated
mat with hand painted border depicting the French flag, bayonet and
infrantry short sword. Contained in a wooden frame. 11"x14" plate size,
