1229 A RARE CONFEDERATE SOLDIER'S CARVED FOLK ART CANE circa 1863, The Hickory Shaft carved with 21 various figures in relief including 2 human faces, frog, snake, fish, turtle, elephant, giraffe, lion and others topped with a gold filled cap inscribed "Taken from a rebel prisoner at the battle of Lookout Mt. Nov. 24, 1863, by Lieut. J.L. Rollins". (Note: J.L. Rollins was a member of Stokes's Cavalry - the 5th (Union) Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry under the command of Col. William B. Stokes.) Cane retains original varnish with nice dark brown patina and wear. Length 36 inches. Estimate $4,000-$6,000

1235 A FRENCH MILITARY COSTUME PRINT circa 1845, hand colored lithograph "Infantry of the Line" signed in plate lower left "Janet-Lange 1845", printed by d'Amerber & Co. 1846. Surrounded by a later custom decorated mat with hand painted border depicting the French flag, bayonet and infrantry short sword. Contained in a wooden frame. 11"x14" plate size, 23"x28" overall.
