Collection includes but is not limited to the following—101st Abn Div green back with white tongue Screaming Eagles SSI as seen in MGM’s Battleground. Original loose threads and appropriate non-greenback tab. 24th Hawaii—layered felt w/green leaf on yellow background on red base with black cloth border—rare example. Green border 29th Div from unit that saw action on Omaha Beach. Embroidered marine patches including 2nd (Gaudalcanal), 4th, 18th Defense Battalion and rare Marine raider with skull on red square and surrounding white stars. Air Transport Command on yellow base. Fabulous pre-war 37th Ohio (Buckeye) Div on wool. British-made 41st Div (Sunset). Rarely encountered German-made loose-weave 3rd Armored w/green backing. 1st Filipino Unit on yellow felt base w/one moth nip. Greenback 1st Army Corp Pacific, Embroidered Philippine Dept. 2nd Costal Artillery. 13th Abn Div. First design Army Air Corps—layered felt with blue pinwheel on yellow base as seen in Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. Two variations of Italian-made 3rd Division (Audie Murphy in To Hell and Back)—one with linen stripes on padded blue felt base—another with wool stripes on blue swatch. Fabulous 44th Div heavily embroidered on pre-war blanket wool material. 66th Div (old) w/ Panther over lightning bolt. Rare red rectangular Airborne tab. Amphibious Engineer Brigade worn by 2nd & 409th Eng Special Brigades. Scrumptious pre-war 35th Div (Santa Fe) on light OD wool. Naval Amphibious Forces (old) with alligator landing tanks on beach. Green back 1st Div from first-wave unit at Normandy. Theatre-made 40th Div (Sunshine) on dark blue wool with black cloth backing. Embroidered 17th, 82nd (w/o tab) and Airborne Command SSI ensemble. Large pocketsize and silk-screened on felt Hawaiian Costal Artillery Brigade. Assortment of Calvary SSI including 1st, green back 2nd and uncommon 61st. OD border South Atlantic Forces. Pre-war 90th Div on OD felt with gauze backing. Seldom found Kiska Task Force iron-on thin canvas material. Marvelous Merrill’s Marauders cotton embroidered on OD twill. 1st Special Service Forces US/Canada arrowhead SSI as seen in The Devil’s Brigade w/ William Holden. Felt Air Cadet. Embroidered 10th Mountain Div w/o tab as worn by Sen. Bob Dole in Italian Campaign. There are over 234 additional pieces of insignia in this grouping including 2nd & 13th Army Air Corp, various Div & Corp patches as well as numbered armored divisions on OD wool. A unique opportunity for advanced collectors to acquire a definitive collection of WWII era shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI), many of which are nearly impossible to obtain nearly 6 decades after they were manufactured, both at home and abroad. All 291 are definitely pre-1945 origin. As worn by members of our Armed Forces and serve as a heraldic reminder of their struggle to preserve our freedom and democracy.
