Removal from the Cross, 19th/20th
century? A very fine polychrome sculpted gesso relief image executed in
the Italianate manner. The margins with the verse from Matins for Holy
Saturday "The Noble Joseph took down from the cross your pure body,
wrapped it in pure linen, anointing it, he placed it in a new
tomb." Backed in red velvet material. Some losses and restoration.
