DAWSON
DAWSON-WATSON
(American 1864-1939) "In the Canyon" oil on canvas laid down
on board, signed lower right. 15.75"x11.75". Born
in London, England, Dawson-Watson painted in Giverny 1885-90. At the
urging of C. Beckworth, he came to the U.S. in 1893. In 1927 he
established his own studio in San Antonio, after hearing about the San
Antonio Wildflower Painting Contest.

born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Louis A. Neebe moved to Chicago,
where he became an active member of the Chicago Society of Artists, the
Society of Independent Artists, and the Business Men’s Art Club.
He is best known for his landscape scenes (such as the offered
lot). |

in Germany, Edward Hamer studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He
studied under Frank Duveneck while Duveneck was a visiting professor.
Hamer was also a member of the Art Student’s League and the Chicago
and All Illinois Society of Fine Art. |
