attaching holes. 1/2" square head tapering to point. No markings.
Overall smooth, rusty brown. 18 1/2" overall length. With original
leather sheath, complete and marked "Navy Yard-Phila-1863". |

Infantry style. Head overall 12" with 5 1/2" point, about
5/16" square tapering to point. Socket ferrule-shoe 6 3/8"
tapering to a blunted point, socket has 1 1/8" opening, marked
8-7C-P16. |

RARE CIVIL WAR PERIOD PIKE.
86" overall length. 1 1/4" pole, 5 1/2" spike-style head,
1 1/2" tubular ferrule with 2-23 1/2"x1.2" cheeks straps.
Head, ferrule, straps are all cast in one piece. 46 1/4" from the
point is an iron cup guard, 3 3/4" across, attached to pole with 3
brads through a collar, the pole flares slightly behind the guard.
Butt-shoe is 4 1/2" with 2-6 1/2"x1/2" cheep straps, with
flat butt. Hole drilled through shaft 20 1/4" from tip. Rich patina
overall, metal turning dark. |

PIKE.
Marked with "crown over GR", 72.5" overall length, 1
1/16" pole, blade style head, double edged, 9 1/4"x1 3/4"
leaf shaped with medial ridge, 4" cone shaped tubular ferrule with
2 integral 48 1/2" cheek straps, 1/2" wide, riveted to pole.
Appears to have been shortened and lacks butt-shoe. Wood is deep, old
dark finish. |

30 1/4" straight blade with single unstopped fuller on each side.
Extensive etched designs: one side shows "CS", second side
shows "CSA". Ricasso stamped with machine die "CS"
over "1864", opposite side shows "W.J. McElroy and
Co." over "Macon". Guard has pierced design with a
"CS". Iron scabbard. Probably an old reproduction. |
