Lot 309: Estimate........$400-$600 Burliuk's life was immersed in the world of art. At age 16 he enrolled in the Kazan Art School and later at Odessa Art College. He also studied in Munich, and in Paris (1904). He later studied at the famous Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture where along with Vladimir Mayakovski was expelled for propagandizing avant-garde art. He was a member in numerous art associations including The Jack of Diamonds, Golden Fleece, Free Creativity, World of Art and even exhibited with the Itinerants (1907-08). Burliuk was a central figure in the history of the Russian avant-garde. He was an accomplished poet, art critic and an important exhibition organizer.
