Dickson received her BA and MA from the University of Iowa 1931 and 1936. She was an active member of the Iowa Art Guild where she exhibited. She was known to have made at least one European Journey from which she produced a number of landscapes and cityscapes. While an active painter, her professional career was spent teaching high school and Junior College art.
