is decorated w/turned concentric rings for 2”. L.28” overall. Barrel &
lock plate both numbered 15XX. Plate shows crown, AR, over an 0 & 186X
(fourth digit illegible). Bolster conversion hammer looks like an Enfield M1853
type. Steel barrel band, R.R. ferrule, orig. R.R., trigger guard, rear butt
swivel, butt plate with 2¾” tang, & oval 2” cap box with flat hinged
lid bearing striated/scalloped pattern. Old, small plug repair to top of wrist.
Illegible proofmark at rear of brl. Beautiful old patina on wood. Crisp, solid

13 7/8” steel barrel, 16 gauge bore flaring to 1 3/8” at muzzle. 30”
overall length. Entire gun has distinct markings. Lock plate shows crown and WR,
1835, Tower. Barrel shows VP and U.S. eagle’s head proof. Once had a rear
sight base, which is gone, all openings have been skillfully filled
professionally. Initials N.J. on left barrel flat. Rear sling-swivel has been
removed from front of trigger guard bow & filed smooth. Left flat of stock
between the 2 lock screws has deep, clear oval cartouche enclosing the initials
N.J. Butt plate tang bears a U.S. marking. Stock clearly from a mid-19th
century military long arm w/original fine, old dark patina classic to guns of
that period. Lock plate has a sliding safety at the rear of the Queen Anne
musket style hammer. Iron pan w/integral fences. Solid, really tight action.
